Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

In plain words

  • We only ask for information we need to help your family or to say thank you for a gift.
  • We never sell, rent or trade your information. Not family information, not donor information.
  • We share details about your child with a scholarship or program provider only when you tell us it's okay.
  • You can ask to see, fix or delete your information at any time. One email is enough.
  • We don't knowingly collect information directly from children under 13. A parent or guardian fills out the form.

1. Who we are

Continue Forward is a Michigan nonprofit organization founded by Linda Klein. We help children, teens and young adults in families going through hard times — divorce, illness, financial strain, loss — find grants and scholarships, and get access to tutoring, online certification courses and job training. Right now we serve families across Michigan.

This policy explains what information we collect through our website, continueforward.org, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. We wrote it to be read, not skimmed past. If anything is unclear, ask us.

[Confirm: legal entity name, tax-exempt status and mailing address to list here once confirmed — see the Financials & governance page.]

2. What we collect

Information you give us through our forms

When you fill out our family intake form, we ask for things like:

  • Your name, email address and phone number (the parent or guardian, or the adult applying for themselves)
  • The young person's first name, age and school or stage (for example, middle school, college, job training)
  • Your city in Michigan
  • A short description of what's happening at home and what the young person is hoping to do next

When you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address and whatever you choose to write to us.

Our forms are delivered to our team by email. On the current version of the site that delivery runs through a form service (FormSubmit.co); when the site moves fully onto Webflow, Webflow's form tools will deliver them instead. Either way, your submission lands in our inboxes and nowhere else.

Donations

Donations are processed by a separate, third-party donation service. When you give, that service collects your name, contact details and payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive your name, contact details, gift amount and any note you leave so we can thank you and keep a record for our books. We never see or store your full card or bank numbers.

[Confirm: name of the donation processor once the donation link is set up, and link to its privacy policy here.]

Website analytics and cookies

Our site is hosted on Webflow. We use Webflow's basic site analytics to understand things like how many people visit and which pages are read most. This is aggregate information — it tells us "about 40 people read the FAQ this week," not who you are. We do not use advertising trackers, remarketing pixels or cross-site tracking.

The site may set a small number of cookies that are needed for it to work (for example, to remember that you've dismissed a notice). You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

3. Sensitive information and information about minors

We know that what you share with us is personal. Telling a stranger about a divorce, a diagnosis, a job loss or a death in the family is not easy. We treat that information with the care it deserves.

  • Who fills out the form. Information about a child or teen under 18 is collected only from a parent or legal guardian. Adults 18 and over may apply for themselves.
  • What we use it for. Information about a young person is used only to help that young person and their family — to understand the situation, find programs that fit, and (with your permission) apply. Nothing else.
  • Children under 13. Our website is written for parents, guardians and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has sent us information on their own, please tell us and we will delete it promptly.
  • Keep it to what's needed. You don't have to share more than you're comfortable with. If we need something else to help, we will ask you directly.

4. How we use your information

We use what you share with us to:

  • Contact you about your request, set up a conversation and follow up
  • Search for and apply to programs, grants and scholarships on behalf of your family — and we only submit an application, or share your information with a provider, after you've given us permission
  • Thank donors and keep the records a nonprofit is required to keep
  • Improve the website using aggregate analytics
  • Meet legal obligations, if and when we have them

We will not use your information to send you marketing you didn't ask for. If we ever start a newsletter, you'll be asked whether you want it, and you can leave with one click.

5. How we share your information

We share information in only a few situations:

  • Service providers that run the site. Webflow (website hosting and forms), our form-delivery service, our email provider and our donation processor handle information so the site and our work can function. They are allowed to use it only to provide their service to us.
  • Program, grant and scholarship providers — only with your permission. Applying for an award usually means sharing information with the organization offering it. We will tell you what we plan to send and to whom, and we will send it only after you say yes.
  • Legal requirements. If a law, court order or similar process requires us to share information, we will — and, where we are allowed to, we will tell you first.
  • Safety. If someone's safety is at risk, we may share what's needed to get them help.

We never sell, rent, trade or otherwise hand over your information to anyone for their own use. That applies to families, to donors and to everyone who contacts us.

6. Donor privacy

If you support our work, thank you. Here is our promise to you:

  • We do not sell, rent, trade or share donor names or contact details with other organizations, for any reason.
  • We will not publish your name as a supporter without asking you first. If you'd rather give anonymously, tell us.
  • You can opt out of thank-you notes, updates or any other communication from us at any time by sending us a note through our contact page.
  • Your payment details stay with the donation processor; we do not see or keep them.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep information only as long as we need it to help you, to keep the records we're required to keep, or as long as you want to keep working with us.

  • If we weren't able to help your family, or you decide not to go ahead, we will delete the intake information you sent us within a reasonable time.
  • Donation records are kept for as long as accounting and tax rules require.
  • You can ask us to delete your information at any time (see the next section). We'll keep only what the law requires us to keep, and we'll tell you if that applies.

8. Your choices and rights

This is your information, and you stay in charge of it. At any time you can:

  • See what we have about you or your family
  • Correct anything that's wrong or out of date
  • Delete it — we'll remove what we have, except what we're legally required to keep
  • Withdraw permission to share information with a program or scholarship provider going forward
  • Opt out of any communication from us

To do any of these, send us a message through our contact page. You don't need to fill out a special form or give a reason. We'll confirm your identity in a simple way (usually by replying to the email address you used) and respond within 30 days, usually much sooner. We will never charge you for this or treat you differently for asking.

9. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information: the site is served over HTTPS, access to our email and accounts is password-protected and limited to the people who need it, and we don't keep copies of your information in more places than necessary.

We also want to be honest: no website, email system or organization can promise perfect security. If we ever learn of a breach that affects your information, we will tell you promptly and explain what happened and what we're doing about it.

10. Links to other sites

Our site links to other websites, including our partner DivorceAI and the third-party page that processes donations. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we don't control what they collect. We encourage you to read their policies before sharing information with them.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. If the change is significant — for example, if we ever started sharing information in a new way — we'll say so clearly on this page and, where we can, let families and donors we're in contact with know directly. We will never quietly change our promise not to sell your information.
