For donors

Financials & governance

Last updated: October 12, 2026

In plain words

  • If you give to Continue Forward, you deserve to know who we are, how we're run and where the money goes.
  • This page is where we put that information, and where we'll post our annual report and tax filings as they become available.
  • We don't sell or share donor information, and we serve every family regardless of background.
  • Some details are still being confirmed and are marked clearly. We'd rather show a gap than guess.

1. Our commitment to transparency

Continue Forward is small and personal by design: a founder, a focused mission, and families we know by name. That closeness is a strength, and it also means donors should be able to see clearly how we operate. Our commitment is simple:

  • We will publish the documents a donor would reasonably want to see, as soon as each one exists.
  • We will tell you plainly what we don't yet have, instead of leaving it out.
  • We will answer any reasonable question about our finances or governance — by phone or email, from a real person.
  • We will never make up numbers. You won't find invented totals, family counts or percentages on this site.

4. Policies

Donor privacy

We do not sell, rent, trade or share donor names, contact details or giving history with any other organization, for any purpose. We won't publish your name as a supporter without asking first, and you can opt out of any communication from us at any time. The full promise is in our Privacy Policy.

Nondiscrimination

Continue Forward serves families regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or family status — including whether parents are married, separated, divorced, single, widowed or otherwise. We apply the same standards to how we work with donors, partners and anyone we hire or engage. A young person's situation at home is the reason we exist, never a reason to turn someone away.

Conflict of interest

Board members, officers and anyone acting for Continue Forward must put the organization's mission ahead of personal, family or business interests. Anyone with a possible conflict — for example, a financial interest in a vendor, a program provider or a family we serve — must disclose it, step out of the discussion and not vote on the matter. Decisions are recorded in the minutes. [Confirm: formal conflict-of-interest policy adopted by the board, with annual disclosure statements signed by each board member.]

Whistleblower protection

Anyone — a board member, a helper, a family we serve, a donor or a partner — who in good faith raises a concern about possible illegal, unethical or improper conduct at Continue Forward will be heard and will not face retaliation of any kind. Concerns can be raised directly with the founder or, if the concern involves the founder, with a member of the board. Reports can be made confidentially and we will keep the person's identity private wherever the law allows. [Confirm: formal whistleblower policy adopted by the board, and name a board contact independent of the founder.]

Financial controls

Gifts are deposited into the organization's own accounts, records are kept for every gift and every expense, and spending is reviewed by the board. [Confirm: who signs off on expenses, whether two signatures are required above a threshold, and whether an outside bookkeeper or accountant reviews the books.]

5. How gifts are used

Grants and scholarships come from the organizations that offer them — not from us. What a gift to Continue Forward pays for is the people and the time it takes to find those awards, match them to a young person, and shepherd a family through applications they could never navigate alone. In practice that means:

  • Research into grants, scholarships and programs across Michigan and beyond — many are small, local and easy to miss
  • One-on-one time with families: the first conversation, the plan, the follow-up
  • Application support: gathering documents, meeting deadlines, writing and reviewing
  • Access to tutoring, online certification courses and job-training programs for the young people we serve
  • The basics that keep a small nonprofit running: phone, website, filings and insurance

We don't publish invented "your $X provides Y" claims, because we'd rather show you real figures from our annual report when it's ready. If you'd like to direct a gift toward a specific part of our work, email us before you give and we'll tell you honestly whether we can honor that.

[Confirm: once the first fiscal year closes, add a simple breakdown of spending by category here — program, administration, fundraising.]

6. Questions

If you're considering a gift and want to talk first, or you're a donor with a question about anything on this page, please reach out. We would rather have the conversation than leave you wondering.
